Session 8 of the 2020 season: Snowkite Lake Cadillac, slog fest

Snowkite Lake Cadillac, slog fest. With Chris and Metrobeach crew from the TC kitefest
Bare minimum winds with the 11M kite
2-3 inches of new snow falling, 28° with lite winds. Decent surface conditions with the added fresh snowfall.
Kite sizes ranged from 11-17M and every one was dropping there kites during the lulls.

Gear:   11 M Z kite

Weather:   Cloudy, 28-30 degrees

Winds:  south winds, marginal wind speeds

TOW:  1.5 hours

Session 7 of the 2019 season: Lake Cadillac with brutal tempertures and snow pack

On my way up to Empire I stopped at Lake Cadillac.

Rigged the 13M kite in 2 feet plus of heavy wind packed snow, with water underneath.
Launched at the east end of the lake near Katie’s apt.
Kited for about an hour with mostly heavy wind packed snow. A few bare spots of crunchy stuff and a lot of hard pack heavy drifts. Session was marginal, winds steadily got lighter. Toward the end I hit some water which instantly froze on my board bottom and ended the session. Luckily I was near the launch and I was able to make it back with out having to walk.

Winds:   WNW 10-20 mph 

Weather:  Brutally cold, mostly cloudy, 10 degrees, winds 10-20 mph from the NW   

Surface: Deep heavy wind blown packed snow with slush underneath.

Session 68 of the 2018 season: Minimum session on Lake Cadillac

Gear:  11M Naish kite

TOB:  3:00-4:30 non-stop action                

Winds: 10-20 mph from the SE  

Weather: thick overcast, 32ish with a light dusting of snow

Surface:   minimum of 2-3 inches of powder on glassy ice

Session 6 of the 2018 season: Snowkiting Lake Cadillac, with a wind scoured surface

TOB:   1:15-2:30

Gear:   Burton TT, 11M Z1 kite

Surface conditions:   Wind scoured of any decent snow

Wind:  SW steady 15-20mph

Weather: 100% cloudy,  30°  

Highlights:  Lack of snow, bare ice spots and warming temperatures resulted in poor snowkiting conditions. Met up with Mark at Katie’s waterfront apartment and kited out of the backyard on Lake Cadillac. SW winds were in the steady 20s, temps near 30 and a dusting of freezing drizzle that fell earlier that morning.

Rigged the 11M and searched for some good snowpack on the lake. 

Gave up after and hour of searching. Fierce winds on Sunday scoured the lake of precious snow.

It was a tiring session with constant edging on ice and sparse snow drifts that were crusted with frozen drizzle.

It’s been a darn good week of excessive consumption on the snowboard, (binge kiting/snowboarding).
6 snowkiting sessions and 5 downhill snowboarding sessions most sessions with fresh powder.
