Seassion 6 of the 2020 season: EPIC Kitesurfing Smyrna beach dunes

1:14 PM on Friday, January 17, 2020

EPIC Kitesurfing Smyrna beach dunes
A feel good 11M session at Smyrna Beach Dunes, FL.
Drive up on the uncrowded beach, park, rig, and ride. It doesn’t get any better then that.
11M kite with the TT board, on shore east north east winds 20-30 mph. So much fun carving up the 5-10 foot waves on the outside and nice easy pleasy 1-3 footers on the inside. Ocean spaced waves gives so much time in between the waves. (Unlike the Great Lakes).

Gear:  11M with TT
Weather:   sunny, 75 degrees, warm water
Winds:  practiaclly onhore ENE winds to 30mph
TOW: 1:30-3:30

Almost a CC from yesterday: Indian River Lagoon at the Stuart Causeway
Another amazing 7M session, the water wasn’t as flat and the slicks were deeper due to high tide. But still another 2 hours of ripping pleasure with big boosting, hard carving and reverse toeside riding.
Side on shore ESE 20-30 mph winds, 2 foot wind driven onshore swell, early morning sun and mid-70s.
Several other Windsurfers and one other kiter.

Gear:  7M with TT
Weather:   sunny, 75 degrees, warm water

Session 3 of the 2020 season: Epic 7M Flat water Indian River Lagoon at the Stuart Causeway

11:39 AM on Thursday, January 9, 2020
Epic flat water session, a solid 2 hours worth on the 7M with the TT board.
Slicks galore with 4 inches of depth and the deep water had some nice wind swell.
Sketchy launch but well worth the risk.
About a dozen windsurfers and one wing with a foil board doing well.
Easy, pleasy with the 7M kite, almost effortless, probably could have stayed out another 2 hours.
Good lofting, fun slashing and carving...
Mostly sunny, 75 degrees, warm water and side on ESE winds to 30mph.
More 7M in the forecast for the next 2 days..

Gear:  7M with TT

Session 2 of the 2020 season: Quickie lite wind session at Jupiter Inlet Park

2:30 PM on Wednesday, January 8, 2020
Quickie at Jupiter Inlet Park
13M side on with small wind swell.
NE winds 10-20 mph, sunny, mid seventies
Started out with good wind but very choppy conditions. Worked my way up to the jetty where some slicks were and some wrap around clean waves to play in.
Overall a fun quickie solo session, the wind got to light. I could see a few kiters down by Juno Beach Pier but that was it.

Gear: 13M with TT board
Weather:  Sunny, 72ish degrees, small swell
Winds: Side on NE winds 10-20 mph
TOW: 2:30-3:30
