Caseville Kiteboarding sessions

A fun day at Caseville County Beach.

9M conditions with TT board, mostly played in the slick on the lee side of the break wall. Some big time jumping along with some failed jumps. Rode downwind to see why Craig was downwind, I’m thinking I’m missing some good swell but I didn’t find any. Closer to shore it was very gusty.

A sunny day, mid-70s, winds were SW 15-30 mph.

About 6 kiters and 1 windsurfer.

Near Epic 9M conditions,

Some slick action and some swell action.

Sunny, near 70 degrees WSW winds to 30 mph.

At least 30 kiters showed up to enjoy the very accurate forecast.

Kitesurfing Caseville

Not your typical summer day on the beach at Caseville.

30 plus kiters, warm water temps, warm air temps, WNW winds up to 40mph.

1st session on the 9M, 2nd session on the 11M and for the 3rd session 7M all with the TT.

On shore wind and waves, 75 degrees with plenty of sun shining. Somewhat disorganized swell, plenty of voodoo near breakwall. Occasionally you could find some smoothies.

Looking forward to more days like this throughout the Great Lakes.

9M session, clean waves on the inside to play on, easy boosting,
Mostly sunny west winds to 30 mph.
12-15 kiters on 8M to 12M kite sizes.

Caseville with steady 11M conditions
Steady WSW winds in the 20-25 mph range. Sunny, 60 degrees. 20-30 kiters on kite sizes from 9-14M.
Small swells and direction of wind made the point a fun spot for carving up some of the swells. With slicks inside the break wall. Lofting some big airs.
A fun 2 days on a row on Lake Huron...commuting more than 500 miles for sessions at Harbor Beach on Saturday and Caseville on Sunday.
2.5 hours of solid riding.

Gear: 11M with TT
Weather: Mostly sunny, 60ish
Winds: WSW 20-25mph

Excellent conditions for slicing up the wave sets.
Good solid session with winds 30 plus from the WSW.

Caseville Kitesurf, Session 2

9 to 11M kites, forecast was spot on. The 20-30 mph winds were diminishing through out the afternoon.
Rigged the 9 after a break and then rigged the 11 as winds diminished.
Finished up on the 11M and surf board.
31 kites were counted on the beach and in the water.

Near Epic 9M conditions, Waves at the  point were mostly clean and well spaced. One of the best 
wave days I've had here in Caseville. Certainly logged some hours and miles today.
Mostly sunny near 70 degrees, winds were generally from the WSW to 30mph.
A group of 15-20 kiters enjoying the conditions.

Session 36 of the 2019 season: Fun day at the Caseville breakwall

Caseville Rocks
A trip to the Thumb’s Caseville paid off with nearly 4 hours of amazing action.
Not quite the best wind direction but it worked. Winds SW 15-25 mph. Small 1-2 foot swells with some cleaner swells at the break-wall. The slick was saweet as usual.
I was on my 11M with my TT board.
The early birds got the best of it, on 9M kites. By the time I got on the water it lightened up a bit and had more south.
There was more wind up high than on the water.
Mostly sunny, temperatures were summer like, mid-70s and water temperature was probably mid-60s.
At least 30 kiters were counted at the peak.
Kites ranged from 7M to 17M through out the day.

Wind:   SW winds 15-25 mph

Weather:  summer like, mid-70s and water temperature, mid-60s.

Surface: loved the slicks 

Session 57 of the 2018 season: Caseville with a paced 2 session day

Gear: 11 M Pivot and TT 

TOB:   10:30-12:3 and 2:00-3:30

Winds:  SW-WSW-WNW-NW-WSW 15-30 mph 

Weather:   cloudy, rain, near 60 degrees  

Surface:  small swell and 1-3 footers in the shallows 

Highlights: Just some fun and the lulls dictated a rest period. 
Two sessions with 1 lull in between. 

Session 42 of the 2018 season: Caseville the long drive paid dividends

Actually had more kite time then drive time

Gear:  Brand new from the box to the beach 2017 9M Naish Pivot kite with TT and Surfboard

TOB:  Marathon sessions, starting at 1:30 and ending near sunset

Winds:   12-25 SW 

Weather:  sunny mid-80s hot, hot, hot 

Surface conditions: from slicks to small swell

Highlights:  Marathon sessions; a beauty of a day for Kitesurfing Caseville beach.
From 1:30 till almost sunset with the new 11M Naish Pivot Kite, TT and surfboard.
Sunny, mid eighties, generally SW winds 12-25 mph. Good action at the slick with small swell to play on inside and outside. Well worth the 4 plus hours of drive time.
With Craig, Jerry, Doug and Jason. 

Session 36 of the 2018 season: Caseville lights up with warm and sunny wave conditions

Gear: 11M Z1 down to 9M Pivot and TT board   
TOB: 2:30-5:00

Winds: 20-30 mph from the west clocking to northwest

Weather: Sunny and upper 70s

Surface conditions: Nice wave action nearshore. West side of jetty had very clean waves.    

Highlights: 11M down to 9M west to northwest winds up to 30 mph. Nice wave action nearshore. West side of jetty had very clean waves.
The fast moving 9M Naish pivot kite shines brightly in these conditions.
Sunny and in the upper 70s.
Larry on 7M with foil and surf board.
Steve on 9M with foil.
3 hours of Caseville waves equals a fun day. Although there wasn’t a slick the clean waves were a pure joy.

Session 33 of the 2018 season: Caseville Beach with barely a whiteap

TOB: Over 3 hours logging 45 miles  
Gear:   11M Z1 and 12M Pivot 

Surface conditions:   Nary a whitecap 

Wind:  Generally 17-25 mph from the SW  

Weather:  Sunny, hot near 90 degrees 

Highlights: Traveled to Caseville for some wind and Kitesurfing. Nary a whitecap to be seen but the wind sensor reported SW 17-22 mph. 11M kite should work, rigged it and for the next 3 hours enjoyed the 85 degree air temp, warm water and sunny breezy conditions.

Although the winds were steady and on the low end of the 11M’s range it didn’t hinder the fun factor. Nice flat water behind the jetty, in fact basically flat water everywhere. Logged some serious mileage and enjoyed every second of it. Nice way to end the dismal month of May. 

Demoed a 12M Naish pivot kite and liked it, it’ll probably be my next update.

Day 46 of the 2017 season: Caseville Epicness

Fun session well worth the drive, 4 hours plus of TOW with some massive jumps and wave carving. Clean swell setting up perfectly for olling both heelside and toeside. Fully confident in the toeside ollies now. I mostly stayed near breakwall where the cleanest waves were. I ventured downwind twice where good carving swell could be found.
It may be a slow season with sessions spaced far apart, but wow! The sessions have been well above average.
About a 12 to 20 kiters ripping it up. And it was good to see Devon establishing a baseline for himself. More improvement needed for him but give him time and he'll get there.

Water conditions: clean swells at breakwall break and some nicely spaced swell further down by the beach
Wind: 20-30 and steady
Weather:  mostly cloudy with occasional sun

Day 41 of the 2017 season: Struck it rich at Caseville county beach

TOB: 12:30 - 2:30 and 3:30 - 5:30
Gear: 9M Z and Mako TT
Water conditions:  somewhat disorganized waves at beach area. At leeside of breakwall clean waves and slick and that was where I spent all of my time today. Up to head high organized swell with a glassy slick on leeside of breakwall.
Wind: NNE  steady 20-30 slowing dropping off but solid 9M all day for me.
Weather:  Mostly sunny, 70ish
Highlights: slick, boosting, ollies, carving and clean waves

Caseville, near epic conditions. Kited with the 9M in sunny NNE side on 20-30 mph conditions.
Kited downwind at the lee-side of the breakwall, nice clean swell and slicks.
Extraordinary boosting conditions in the slick and many 180 ollies in both directions over the small slick chop.
Very fast speeds carving on the clean waves.
Up to 5 foot waves, on lee side, glassy slick,
4 hours of drive time for 4 hours of kite time., well worth it.
About 8-10 kiters enjoying the conditions.
Topped off with dinner with Craig Larry and Debbie at the Bluewater on main street.

Day 74 of the 2016 season: Caseville, near epic conditions!

What a day!  With near epic conditions for me.
Upon arrival we found Chris taking a break in the parking lot and saying conditions were not as expected, with plenty of holes and massive gusts.
Craig an I rigged our 9s to match Chris's 9 and by the time I launched and took my first tack I was saying I could be on my 6.5. I held on over powered for the first hour hoping for the wind to drop a tad. Finally it felt like it did drop but still I was at the end of my depower line the entire session.
Stayed mostly on lee side of breakwall where cleaner swells and the slicks were.
Fun jumping, slashing, carving and the slick was fabulous. A fun day where the 4 hours of drive time paid good feeling dividends.
