Friday 4/29 Mellow Morning

Friday 4/29/2011.
Morning 5.5 session with 109 RRD.
Great pre-breakfast mellow morning flat-water session.
Started at 8:30 ended at 10:30 hungry for an Atlantic Café breakfast wrap with Larry.
Schooled at duckin the jibe, upwind 360s fast tacks and heli tacks.

High wind day - my smallest gear, 4.0 with the 85 JP. With winds gusting near 50, it was way too much wind for me and a 4.0.
Schooled: Chicken jibes, staying with board, survivor sailing.

Intermittent sailing - Winds would generally come up before, during or after storms.


Sailed the 5.0 with the 101 RRD. The best session being late in the evening.
Schooled: downwind 360s.

Session: Several short sessions through out the day.

Started out with the rigged 5.0 Ezzy Freewave and 109 RRD eventually moving down to the 101 RRD.
Schooled: 6 downwind 360s completed out of 12 attempts. Perfect conditions for practicing 360s.
Weather: Typical Hatteras
Wind: Side on SSW winds 20-30 mph.
Water: Perfect Hatteras
Session: 12:00 – 6:00, dead tired.

Sunday 4/24/2011,
Again another steady warm 75-degree southwesterly event sailed the 5.0 with the RRD 101 and later going down to the 85 JP. Sailed the afternoon session until I couldn't’t hold on any longer.

Schooled: Attempting downwind 360s
Weather: Typical Hatteras
Wind: Side on SSW wind 20-30
Water: Perfect Hatteras
Session: 2:00 – 6:00, dead tired.

Saturday 4/23/11, 14 hours of drive time

Drove 14 hours to rig the 5.0 Ezzy Freewave and sailed the RRD 101 from 7:30 until 9:00, sunset cruise.
An excellent warm 70s, SW 20-30 Hatteras welcome made the 14-hour drive worthwhile.
Gear: 5.0 Ezzy Freewave and 101 RRD FSW
Schooled: Mowing the lawn, hopping the chop, having fun blasting around.
Weather: Typical Hatteras
Wind: Side on SSW winds 20-30 mph.

Session: 7:30 until 9:00, sunset cruise.
